…has got me looking at some photos from last winter, reminding myself how great it was and that I should make more of it this season. Given the summer has been a bit of a wildcamp free zone, I need to get myself motivated. There’s a few of small purchases I need to make [down boots, snowshoes, snowchains] and research I need to do [vapour barriers, stable on-snow cooking platforms]. In the meantime, I need to get myself into the gym and get fitter.
OMG what brilliant pictures! Loch Gamhna is beautiful, stunning.
Go for it! I want to see more of the same :o)
I loved the shots you posted at the time, nice to see it again.
Thanks Helen, the can see the original post here. It was magical, really regret having not camped looking back…
Cheers Richard, hopefully, I’ll have more this year. Just shows you don’t need altitude for stunning views when conditions are so good! Which suits me fine, given I’m sorta lazy!
Such crisp shots. 🙂
Re. Stable-on-snow cooking platforms: I use one of those cork pot stands. Ikea do a three pack for a penny shy of 3 quid:

20cm is good for my wide-based remote cannister stoves but if you can get away with smaller then you could always cut one down and still have two to spare. Bargain!
Excellent suggestion Dave, thanks for the tip. What are the chances for leaving Ikea having spent less than a fiver?
I confess. That would be a minor mirracle. The only viable tactic would be to walk in there with no cards and exactly 2.99 cleanched in your fist.
I am appallingly late in finding your excellent blog, Fraser. What a fantastic find! Thoroughly enjoying catching up.
All the best
Alan
Thanks Alan, glad you’re enjoying it. It’s been a bit quiet of late, but hopefully it’ll pick up again over winter.
